Acushnet man accused of posing as inspection officer, robbing Dunkin of cash in safe

A local man is accused of robbing a Massachusetts eatery under interesting circumstances.

According to police, on Friday, just before 3:00 p.m. the Milford Public Safety Communications Center received a call from an employee of Dunkin Donuts, located at 146 South Main Street in Milford reporting a larceny of cash from their safe approximately an hour prior to the call.

Arriving on scene at 3:02 p.m., members of the Milford Police Department Patrol Division and Special Operations Team began an initial investigation of the area, while trying to identify a suspect. Shortly thereafter, it was discovered that a male acting under guise of an inspection officer, had gained access to over $600 in cash in an open safe.

At approximately 5:35 p.m., through CCTV and Flock Safety Search, Milford Police Detectives were able to identify Jamal Guinyard, 40, of Acushnet, MA., as a suspect in the larceny.

Detectives spoke with Guinyard at approximately 6:30 p.m., at which time he admitted to committing the larceny.

Jamal Guinyard has been charged with the following crimes:

LARCENY UNDER $1200 BY FALSE PRETENSE

TRESPASSING
