Active Lieutenant in the Providence Fire Department dies suddenly and unexpectedly

A local firefighter died suddenly and unexpectedly over the weekend.
Active Providence Fire Department Lieutenant Gregory Pavao passed away at the age of 53.
He was described as a loving husband, a devoted father, and a kind, hardworking man.
According to an obituary, Greg was a Lieutenant in the Providence Fire Department for 17 years, stationed at both Atwells Ave. and Washington St.
He enjoyed playing his guitar, surfing, traveling in the camper, and most of all spending time with his family.
A cause of death was not released.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday May 10, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, 179 Academy Ave, Providence. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
