Accident at Cape Cod construction site results in serious, traumatic injuries
An incident at a Massachusetts work site led to a worker being transported by helicopter.
According to Falmouth Fire/Rescue, on Wednesday, at approximately 2:00 p.m., the Falmouth Fire Rescue Department responded to 566 Main Street for a reported construction site accident involving a worker who had been electrocuted.
Responding personnel were updated by the Falmouth Emergency Communications Center, reporting the victim was conscious following the accident.
Upon arrival by Fire/EMS personnel, they confirmed the worker had sustained serious injuries after a steel beam made contact with overhead electrical wires. Due to the nature of the accident, Boston MedFlight was requested to respond. The victim was evaluated and stabilized for transport to an awaiting MedFlight helicopter at the Falmouth Hospital Landing Zone. The victim was transported to an area Trauma Center with serious, traumatic injuries.
No additional information is available regarding the extent of the victim’s injuries.
Falmouth Inspectional Services along with the Falmouth Police Department, Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office CSI, Eversource and OSHA were on the scene to investigate the incident.
