A wild week full of fun coming to the Fall River Public Library
Things are going to get a bit “wild” at the Fall River Public Library as it celebrates A WILD Week at the Library, June 25th through 29th at the Main Library, 104 North Main Street. The week’s activities, sponsored by the Fall River Women’s Union, will feature a puppet show, a storytime/picnic and a visit from some cute baby farm animals.
The week will kick off with a performance of The Three Billy Goats Gruff, presented by the Pumpernickel Puppets, Monday, June 25 at 11:00 a.m. Puppeteer extraordinaire, John McDonough, will delight audience members young and old with his delightful interpretation of this classic folktale. This presentation is recommended for children ages three and up.
On Tuesday, June 26 at 11:00 a.m., families are invited to a Storytime Safari on the library’s Elm Street lawn. Parents are invited to bring a blanket to spread on the lawn and a picnic lunch or snacks. The event will include a wild animal scavenger hunt with more than 100 colorful jungle animals hidden on the library’s front lawn. In case of rain, the event will be held in the meeting room.
Children will be invited to create their own Jungle Animal Finger Puppets on Wednesday, June 27 at 11:00 a.m. in the children’s room. Children can choose from several different designs and make their own “wild” creations using pre-cut foam shapes. A child-size puppet booth will be set up for young puppeteers to try out their creations. This craft is recommended for children ages 3 and up.
Fuzzy, furry, and feathery friends will be dropping by the library on Thursday, June 28 from 11:00 am to 1:00 p.m. on the library’s front lawn. Farm Visits will bring a host of baby farm animals including piglets, baby goats, bunnies, and ducklings for children to hold and pet. The morning will also feature face painting by Casey’s Faces and a craft activity. In case of rain, the event will be held in the meeting room.
On Friday, June 29 at 3:30 p.m. it will be a Mo Willems film extravaganza featuring several short movies based on his popular picture books including The Duckling Gets a Cookie and The Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog!
All events are free and open to the public. Fall River Public Library thanks the Fall River Women’s Union for making this exciting week possible.
