A Massachusetts man’s plans include getting away after hitting $2.5 million State Lottery prize

A Massachusetts man plans on getting away after he hit some big money recently on a State Lottery scratch ticket.
According to the Massachusetts State Lottery, Kirk Phinney of Leominster is the winner of a $2.5 million prize in the Massachusetts State Lottery’s “$2,500,000 Merry & Bright” $10 instant ticket game.
Phinney chose the annuity option on his prize and received the first of 20 annual payments of $125,000 (before taxes). Phinney said he plans to travel as well as purchase a new car with his winnings.
He purchased his winning ticket at Quick Stop Liquor, 531 N Main St. in Leominster. The store will receive a $25,000 bonus for its sale of this ticket.
The “$2,500,000 Merry & Bright” ticket is one of six holiday-themed tickets that launched on October 15. In addition to chances to win top prizes ranging from $500 to $2.5 million, players can enter non-winning holiday tickets into a drawing for chances to win cash prizes from $100 to $10,000.
