A Massachusetts man needed some change while at Shaw’s, turned it into $1 million State Lottery prize
Who knew that needing some change would lead to a life changing lottery win?
According to the Massachusetts State Lottery, Paul Verdini Jr. of Worcester is the winner of a $1 million prize in the Massachusetts State Lottery’s “Money Money Money” instant ticket game.
Verdini said that he was looking to break a $20 bill on St. Patrick’s Day and decided to buy this green $5 ticket to do so. He purchased his winning ticket at Shaw’s supermarket, 50 Boston Turnpike Rd. (Route 9) in Shrewsbury. The store receives a $10,000 bonus for its sale of this ticket.
Verdini opted to receive his prize in the form of a one-time payment of $650,000 (before taxes). He said he plans to use some of his winnings to buy a new car.
