A Fall River institution, Candy & Nut Center, is closing; here is your chance to show Jay Levine what he has meant to the community

A Fall River institution is closing, and the owner’s daughter is looking for the public’s help to show how much they appreciate him and the business.

Candy & Nut Center is a longstanding, old-fashioned candy and nut specialty shop known for its tremendous variety of fresh candies and nuts. Not only has it satisfied the sweet tooth of locals, but it has also been a trip down memory lane for some.

Located at 657 Quarry Street #5, the store has been a staple for over 4 decades, but unfortunately, soon it will be no more.

According to owner Jay Levine’s daughter, Caitlyn, he has been in the hospital since November 4th. He is doing well now, but there is no way that the family can continue to run the store.

She states that CNC will close by the end of the month.

“I will have buyers coming in to salvage anything that can contribute to his outstanding liabilities.”

While it is sad to see the Candy & Nut Center go, Fall River Reporter wants to help Caitlyn brighten Jay’s day, and let him know how much he meant to us.

“I want to plaster his room with memories and appreciation for everything he has done for this community! He is doing very well, but unfortunately, this chapter has come to an end. Please share everywhere and support this Fall River staple!”

If you want to reach out to the head nut and the original candy man, please send your thoughts and prayers to Caitlin Demelo, 9 Courtney Street, Apartment 1, Fall River, MA 02720.
