A critically acclaimed and award-winning television series has Fall River connection

A Fall River business that has been around for over five decades had a little hand in a popular award-winning television series that recently concluded.
The Handmaid’s Tale was a television series created by Bruce Miller, based on Margaret Atwood’s 1985 novel of the same name. Set in the near-future Republic of Gilead, the story followed Offred (June Osborne, played by Elisabeth Moss), a Handmaid navigating survival, resistance, and loss of autonomy in Gilead.
The series, which premiered on Hulu on April 26, 2017, spanned six seasons, with the final season concluding this year. It garnered critical acclaim, winning eight Primetime Emmy Awards.
As the series was about to conclude, THT contacted Frank Clegg Leatherworks on Quarry Street to create a one-of-a-kind gift for the cast.
Fall River Reporter asked the business how it all came about.
“We were contacted to create custom gifts for the cast as they wrapped up the series. The request was pretty straightforward; they wanted a red duffle featuring the signature red cloak interior as a piece of memorabilia. It was a special project, and we were honored to be part of it.”
