Boston – A man from Rhode Island entered a guilty plea in Boston’s federal court for offenses related to drug possession and distribution.

According to the Massachusetts Department of Justice, 38-year-old Star Sirikhom admitted guilt to one charge of conspiring to distribute and possess with intent to distribute at least 50 grams of methamphetamine, along with one charge of possessing with intent to distribute at least 50 grams of methamphetamine. U.S. Senior District Court Judge William G. Young has set the sentencing date for November 19, 2025. Sirikhom faced indictment by a federal grand jury in July 2022, alongside five suspected accomplices.

The probe into this case launched in 2019, targeting a money laundering network based in Colombia that handled profits for various drug syndicates. While monitoring a suspected drug storage site, agents noticed individuals arriving with heavy bags or containers and departing with large garbage bags, weighted packages, and five-gallon pails, which they loaded into cars before leaving.

In June 2021, surveillance captured Sirikhom arriving at the site with a black backpack and leaving shortly after, with the bag appearing noticeably heavier. A traffic stop of his vehicle followed, during which officers confiscated the backpack from the trunk and discovered it held more than six kilograms of orange tablets laced with methamphetamine.

Each charge carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years, up to a lifetime in prison, a minimum of five years on supervised release, and fines reaching up to $10 million. Federal district judges determine sentences based on U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and applicable laws.

The announcement came today from United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and Jarod A. Forget, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s New England Field Division. The case is being handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian J. Sullivan from the Narcotics & Money Laundering Unit.
