DORCHESTER, MA (September 4, 2025) – The Powerball jackpot for the Saturday, September 6 drawing is up to an estimated $1.7 billion, making it the third largest jackpot in U.S. lottery history. The cash option on the prize is now an estimated $770.3 million.

Saturday night’s Powerball drawing will be the forty-second since the jackpot was last hit on May 31, when a $204.5 million jackpot was won on a ticket sold in California. This is the game’s largest jackpot since October 11, 2023, when a $1.765 billion jackpot was won on a ticket sold in California. This Powerball jackpot run has set a new game record for the most consecutive drawings without a grand prize winner.

“As this jackpot moves into record territory, we remind people to keep the experience of playing the Lottery enjoyable by playing responsibly and within their means,” said Mark William Bracken, Executive Director of the Massachusetts State Lottery.

In Wednesday’s drawing, there were four $50,000 prizes won on tickets sold in Massachusetts. The four $50,000 winning tickets were purchased at:

  • Gary’s Liquors, 655 VFW Pkwy., Chestnut Hill
  • The Point, 52 County Rd., East Freetown
  • Dev Convenience Store, 24 Lake St., Peabody
  • 17 Central St. Liquors, 17 Central St., Peabody

Powerball tickets are $2 each and can be played in 45 states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Tickets can be purchased until 9:50 p.m. Saturday at Mass Lottery retailers across the state. Drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. in Tallahassee, FL.

The Mega Millions jackpot for the Friday, September 5 drawing is an estimated $336 million, while the Megabucks jackpot for Saturday’s drawing is an estimated $4.7 million.
