Missing pregnant Bristol County teen found deceased is being remembered as services announced
Services have been announced for Kylee Monteiro, an 18-year-old pregnant Bristol County teen who was found deceased on Tuesday August 19th after being reported missing.
According to an obituary, “Kylee was a bright and spirited young woman who graduated from Attleboro High School in 2025. With a passion for welding, she proudly earned her welding certificate and was eagerly looking forward to a promising career in the field. Her vibrant personality shone through her love for posting on the internet and interacting with her friends. Above all, Kylee adored her sisters and niece, cherishing every moment spent with them.”
Originally raised in Burrillville, Rhode Island, Monteiro moved to Attleboro after her mother’s death nearly five years ago, living with her aunt and uncle there.
She shared a biological father with her sister Faith and four other siblings, and also has another sister named Catherine.
At the time of her disappearance, Monteiro was 11 weeks pregnant (approaching three months) and excited about motherhood, having already chosen the name Eleanor if the baby was a girl.
She had recently been staying at Bethesda House, a shelter for homeless pregnant women in Pembroke.
Monteiro was in an on-again, off-again relationship with 22-year-old Gregory Groom of Rehoboth, who was the father of her unborn child.
Family reports indicated domestic issues in the relationship, and she had expressed fears about Groom, including a text to her sister shortly before disappearing that read, “My phone is at four percent. If I die, it was Greg.”
She was last seen on August 7, 2025, in the area of County Street in Rehoboth, wearing a red T-shirt with “Get Over It” printed on it, ripped blue jeans, tan boots, and carrying a white bag with her belongings.
Tragically, her body was discovered buried on Groom’s property, leading to his arrest for murder.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and continue on Friday, September 5, 2025 at 11 a.m. followed by Services at 12 p.m. at WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket. Interment will follow at Newell Burying Ground, South Attleboro. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to New Hope, 247 Maple St., Attleboro, MA 02703 (www.new-hope.org) would be appreciated.
