Candidate for mayor of Fall River, Gabriel “Boomer” Amaral has released the following statement after the announcement that Christopher Silvia dropped out of the Fall River mayoral race.

“So, after hearing the news that everyone has been sending me for hours and I got to watch myself. I want to apologize for not responding to everyone right away as I am still trying to absorb what it took to come to this decision.

“I do want to say a few things, and I’ll leave it alone. I want to first congratulate Christopher Silvia on jumping into this game of thrones atmosphere as it is by far the hardest decision to make knowing what these people in charge are capable of. However, he did it without knowing how ruthless it can get. For that I give him all the praise and credit in the world.

“I want to thank him for enduring all he has from every angle it seems. For taking some of those blows instead of it being focused on me per usual. lol It’s a horrible experience and I know first-hand what that entails. So, thank you for your bravery and even when you broke down you still stayed strong as you could to face them. You should be proud.

“Whatever his reasons for standing tall and protecting his family and way of life. I respect it and I understand it. Maybe he is smarter than I am because I continue to endure the nonsense where he was intelligent enough to move forward. Who knows. I want to make it clear I am competitive, and I look forward to the challenges in this fight. Christopher was a viable candidate and had his heart in the right place from what I could tell. We are not friends or even acquaintances so I can only go based on what I see and hear from him in the public eye. From what I saw he meant well for the most part and maybe had some poor advice along the way. Either way I believe his intentions were for the betterment of the City from his perspective.

“I’ll end it with I respect anyone who can take the chance and jump in this ring of destruction because that’s what it does to most lives while fighting the machine. He stood up to the machine and for that I respect him, and I praise his courage. I appreciate the light he brought to our city’s darkest areas and how he tried to make it better. Hold your head high on what you’ve accomplished and what you have endured. Whatever the personal reasons are those are not my business nor my concern as that is his cross to carry. I wish Christopher the best on his future endeavors and hope he can continue to change lives for the better as I’ve seen him work to do since he came on the scene.

“Good luck and thank you for taking some of the flack in this dirty game they play with our lives. I will be sure to work hard to help those communities you fought for and if you have ideas that can make that job more efficient. I welcome them with open arms. We all have the goal to make our city better.

“Thank you and best of luck to you!”
