27-year-old Fall River woman sentenced to prison after two city shootings where several shots were fired
Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn III announced the conviction of a 27-year-old from Fall River for two shootings on Raymond Street in Fall River in the Fall of 2024.
Dannyshka Figueroa-Bermudez pled guilty and was sentenced in the Fall River Superior Court before the Honorable William White, Jr to 9 counts of Attempted Assault and Battery by Firearm, 2 counts of Malicious Damage to a Motor Vehicle and two counts of Improper Storage of a Firearm.
Figueroa-Bermudez was sentenced to serve 3 to 5 years in the State Prison.
On 9/7/2024, just before dawn, the victim, who was the stepfather of Figueroa-Bermudez’s ex-girlfriend, awoke to gunshots outside of his home on Raymond Street in Fall River. The victim discovered that his motor vehicle had been struck by gunfire six times, and his kitchen window had been struck three times.
Fall River Police responded and recovered spent shell casings in the area of the shooting. The residence, a multi-family apartment building, was occupied by several individuals at the time of the shooting. The sound of gunshots was captured on surveillance video.
On 10/27/24, just before dawn, while inside of his residence on Raymond Street in Fall River, the victim heard several gunshots. When the victim looked out of his window, he observed Figueroa-Bermudez. The victim discovered that his vehicle had been struck again.
Fall River Police responded and recovered numerous spent shell casings. Surveillance video from the area depicted the defendant walking down the driveway and discharging several rounds at the building’s second floor. The video showed the firearm to have a laser sight attached.
Police secured a search warrant for the defendant’s home and located clothing consistent with the surveillance video. Two firearms were seized from the defendant’s residence, including a laser sight, and ammunition was seized that matched the caliber of all recovered spent shell casings from both shooting dates. Massachusetts State Police compared the spent casings seized from the scene and found them consistent with the firearm recovered from the defendant’s residence.
During an interview with police, Figueroa Bermudez, who had a license to carry a firearm at the time of the shootings, admitted to committing the offenses.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Russ Eonas.
“This is yet another example of senseless violence that could have resulted in severe injury to the occupants of the building. This case again highlights the importance of surveillance video in solving violent crimes especially involving firearms. The defendant has demonstrated that she is a danger to the victim and the community and needs to be kept off the streets to protect the public,” District Attorney Tom Quinn said.
