Heavy fire at Taunton residence sends woman to the hospital
TAUNTON — Chief Steven Lavigne reports that the Taunton Fire Department responded to a kitchen fire on Saturday morning.
At just before 8:30 a.m., Taunton Fire responded to a report of a structure fire at 365 Somerset Ave.
Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy fire on the first floor of a residential apartment building.
Firefighters stretched a hose line into the building and quickly extinguished the fire with an aggressive attack. The fire had extended into the walls and exterior siding of the home.
One resident, an adult female, was taken by Brewster Ambulance to a local hospital to be treated for minor burns and smoke inhalation.
Only one resident was displaced due to the fire.
The Taunton Fire Department and Taunton Police Department are investigating the cause of the fire.
“Our crews did a tremendous job immediately attacking this fire and getting it under control within minutes,” said Chief Lavigne. “Their quick actions prevented the fire from spreading throughout the building.”
