Long-awaited Silver Stone Castle & Family Entertainment complex in Swansea sets opening date
Silver Stone Castle & Family Entertainment, an 87,000-square-foot medieval-themed amusement complex in Swansea has announced their long-awaited opening date.
The unique property at 358 Grand Army Hwy (Route 6), formerly the Coles River Family Fun Center, will open to the public on November 20th.
Spearheaded by local entrepreneur Joe Estrela, the $20 million project has been under construction since 2021 but delays due to permits, approvals, labor shortages, and COVID-related setbacks had pushed back the opening.
Estrela announced in August 2024 that the hiring phase for the complex had begun, with a job fair held in September 2024, aiming to employ up to 120 staff.
Some of what you can expect at Silver Stone:
-A two-story indoor go-kart track with video-game-style boosts, a resort-style indoor pool with grottoes and stonework, a giant arcade, virtual reality games, laser tag, a rock-climbing wall, a ropes course, and amusement rides. There’s also a dedicated area for younger children.
-A tavern-style restaurant and a fine-dining area offering American and Portuguese-inspired dishes, including steaks, burgers, and desserts, with a full-service bar. The decor features a 40-foot dragon sculpture and a 20-foot knight statue with an occupancy limit of 280.
-A ballroom divisible into smaller sections, multiple party rooms for birthdays and events, and an outdoor deck overlooking the Coles River.
-Elaborate medieval decor
The project is designed to be a family-friendly destination for all ages.
Estrela, a Swansea native, chose his hometown over other nearby communities to create a landmark for the SouthCoast region and that he did.
