Musician, baseball player, man of God, killed in fiery car crash in Plymouth County
A well-known local musician who died this week in a motor vehicle fire is being remembered.
According to Hanson Fire Chief Robert O’Brien, Hanson Police Chief Michael Miksch, State Fire Marshal Jon Davine, and Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz, the Hanson Fire Department and Hanson Police Department responded to the area of Union Street shortly before 3:00 Monday morning for a report of a car on fire in the roadway.
On arrival, they found a 2012 Chevrolet Impala with the engine compartment fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters extricated an adult male, the sole occupant and apparent operator, and immediately began providing medical assistance.
The man was transported to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of his death.
According to those who knew the victim, Misop Baynun (formerly Scott Miller) of Quincy was in a collision before the car became engulfed in fire.
Baynum was being remembered as a gifted musician, an avid baseball player, a man of God, and a kind, charitable human being with integrity who was unique in the best way.
The incident is being investigated by the Hanson Fire Department, Hanson Police Department, State Police fire investigators assigned to the State Fire Marshal’s office, and State Police assigned to the Plymouth County DA’s office.
