Boston, MA – February 19, 2025 – Senator Kelly Dooner (R-Taunton) received news that the Raynham Home2 Suites, which is currently being used as an Emergency Assistance (EA) family shelter, will officially close as a shelter by Wednesday, December 31, 2025. This closure is part of the state’s broader effort to phase out the use of hotels as emergency shelters by the end of 2025 and transition families into permanent housing solutions.

“I want to thank the town officials, the Raynham Police and Fire Departments, our first responders, and all our local partners for their tireless efforts in managing the shelter operations and ensuring the safety of everyone involved,” said Dooner.

In the months leading up to the closure, Commonwealth Care Alliance (CCA), the service provider for the shelter, will continue working with families to secure permanent housing through case management and the use of rental assistance programs such as the HomeBASE program. EOHLC will support any families who remain eligible for EA but have not yet transitioned to stable housing by relocating them to other shelter sites.

“Massachusetts cannot continue to rely on temporary shelter solutions like hotels,” Dooner emphasized. “I remain committed to working with my colleagues to create long-term housing reforms that provide sustainable solutions for families while ensuring that local communities are not overburdened.”

Senator Dooner also reiterated her commitment to reforming Massachusetts’ right-to-shelter law to ensure a more effective, long-term approach to emergency housing, focusing on solutions that work for Massachusetts families and local communities.
