Quincy and Taunton men arrested in murder of 43-year-old Anthony Leverone

BROCKTON – Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and Abington Police have arrested two men in connection with the murder of a man found dead in Abington, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz and Abington Police Chief John Bonney have announced. 

On December 27, 2024, at just before 7:30 p.m., Abington Police received a call requesting that police perform a well-being check on the caller’s male relative living at 563 Plymouth Street. Upon arrival, Abington Police and emergency medical personnel located the male unresponsive in the backyard of the residence. Abington Fire personnel pronounced the male victim deceased on scene. He was identified as 43-year-old Anthony Leverone. 

Abington Police contacted the Massachusetts State Police Detectives Unit assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, to begin the investigation. As a result, they developed probable cause and sought and obtained arrest warrants for two men in connection with the crime. 

Last evening, 43-year-old Suzito Lopes of Quincy, was arrested at a home in Brockton. Antonio Lopes, 37, of Taunton, turned himself in this morning at the Abington Police Department.

The Lopes are brothers who were known to Leverone.

The men are expected to be arraigned today in Brockton District Court.
