Fall River man pleads not guilty, bail set, in crash that claimed the life of Mallory Humphreys

A 27-year-old Fall River man has been arraigned in connection with a crash on Route 44 in Taunton that claimed the life of Mallory Humphreys.

Andrew Sousa has been charged with Motor Vehicle Homicide while Operating under the Influence and Operating a Motor Vehicle while Under the Influence.  

He was arraigned Monday in Fall River Superior Court and pled not guilty.

His bail was set in the amount of $5,000 cash and imposed conditions of release.  Those conditions include abstaining from alcohol with random screens, not to operate a motor vehicle and weekly reporting to the probation department. 

On September 15th at just before 1:30 a.m., Sousa was driving a gray 2015 Infiniti eastbound in the area of 608 Winthrop Street when it rear-ended a tractor trailer that was also being driven eastbound.  24-year-old Mallory Humphreys of Taunton was in the passenger seat of the car Sousa was driving and died as a result of the crash.

Sousa’s next scheduled court appearance is a pre-trial conference on March 25th.
