Double service announced for “best friends” from Fall River and Taunton killed in car crash
Services have been announced for two local people who died in a recent car crash.
According to police, on Monday, at just before 9:30 p.m., 911 operators received a call about a one-car crash on East Britannia Street, near Thrasher Street. Upon arrival, emergency crews discovered a 2017 Hyundai Elantra leaning up against a tree. A preliminary investigation reveals the vehicle went airborne before hitting the tree.
The driver, 26-year-old Averi Costa-Burton of Fall River, was ejected from the vehicle. Two passengers remained in the vehicle: 28-year-old Dorryn Robinson of Taunton, and a 25-year-old man from Fall River.
The female passenger, Robinson, was pronounced dead at the scene. The operator, Costa-Burton, was transported to Morton Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The 25-year-old man from Fall River, who was sitting in the back seat, was transported by medical helicopter to Rhode Island Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Costa-Burton and Robinson were cousins and have been described as best friends.
According to an obituary, Costa-Burton “played football during his youth. He later worked as a laborer in construction for many years and also pursued work in collectibles as a trader. Averi found joy in playing basketball and football and deeply valued the time he spent with his family and friends.”
An obituary stated that Robinson “attended classes at Bristol Community College and was a talented athlete who participated in track and field and had a passion for dancing. Known for her vibrant personality, she was often described as the life of the party—a petite individual with a presence that was larger than life.”
Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Thursday, January 9, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Avenue, Taunton. A prayer service will follow at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be private.
