Nite Owl in Fall River to go in front of Community Preservation Committee concerning prospective restorations, repairs, and updates to the property
An iconic Fall River landmark could soon see new life.
Antone Dias, representing owner Joseph Nasrallah, went in front of the Historical Commission in March stating that Nasrallah is looking to sell or renovate the former Nite Owl Restaurant on the corner of Eastern Avenue and Pleasant Street and get it on the Fall River Register as a significant and historic place before hopefully getting on the National Register.
On Wednesday January 8th, 2025, the Nite Owl will have a funding hearing in front of the Community Preservation Committee.
Ownership is looking to make the following updates to the property:
Exterior repairs/restorations of the existing stainless-steel cladding. The iconic “Night Owl” sign will be restored to its more menacing original appearance. Two new neon signs will be re-created to match the original. Interior restoration of existing counter, stools, damaged windows and lighting. Entire electrical and plumbing systems will be replaced. Kitchen, missing sunburst motif stainless steel wall panels will be provided. A new floor access hatch will be needed. Kitchen floor includes terrazzo floors which will be maintained. A new handicap-assisted bathroom will be provided as an addition to the existing diner.
The price tag for the work is listed at $228,319.
Dias previously stated that the diner, which has been around since the 50s, can seat about 20 people and includes a basement with a bathroom.
The parking lot is also part of the property.
Nasrallah is interested in having the building preserved and not destroyed or become unrecognizable, so residents could see the iconic owl for years to come.
