Former Fall River teacher found not guilty of having sexual relationship with 14-year-old student
A former teacher was found not guilty Thursday in Fall River Superior Court concerning charges of aggravated rape of a child.
In May of 2020, a then 30-year-old Tory Meneses, a Durfee math teacher at the school since 2015, was put on paid administrative leave and eventually lost his job after a police investigation began concerning his conduct.
In August of 2020, Meneses was arraigned on Aggravated Rape of a Child, Ten Year Age Difference (two counts) and Statutory Rape of a Child, Mandated Reporter. He pled not guilty, and bail was set at $10,000 cash which he posted.
Meneses had been accused of having a sexual relationship in his classroom with a 14-year-old student.
According to the Herald News, Meneses’ attorney told the court that his client had an inappropriate, improper, non-sexual, emotional relationship with the student, but they did not have intercourse.
Testing reportedly revealed there was evidence of seminal fluid on Meneses’ desk chair, however, his attorney stated that the chair was Meneses’ own chair that he brought from home, which is where the fluid originated.
