Lakeville, Raynham, Middleborough, Freetown crews extinguish structure destroyed by fire
Several local fire departments combined to extinguish a structure fire on Monday.
Crews responded at approximately 12:11 pm to a call that reported a shed was on fire at the rear of a Staples Shore Road home.
At the time of the fire, the 3 on-duty firefighters were committed to a crash in the area of the intersection of Taunton and Bedford Streets. Engine 1 cleared the scene and responded with 1 firefighter. Ambulance 3, after determining the driver did not require assistance, responded back to the station for Engine 2.
Car 2 responding from quarters observed a column of smoke from the area of the fire and ordered a recall of off-duty staff. A working fire assignment was also requested when it was discovered that the fire involved a 20 X 20 wood-framed structure.
Engine 3, Tanker 1, Tower Ladder 1, and Car 1 would join the response.
Raynham FD, Middleborough Fire Department, and Freetown Fire Department provided mutual aid. Middleborough supplied an engine, tanker, a command officer, and an ambulance to the scene.
No injuries were reported.
Chief O’Brien commended his firefighters on their hard work and express his gratitude to our mutual aid partners for their help with today’s response.
