18-year-old who died from injuries sustained in Massachusetts head-on crash remembered as beautiful inside and out

The 18-year-old passenger hospitalized in the head-on crash involving a pickup truck and a SUV on Union Street in Braintree on December 1, 2024, has succumbed to her injuries, Norfolk District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey said Wednesday.

Alexia Nixon of Weymouth passed away at Boston Medical Center Tuesday night, according to Morrissey.

She was a passenger in a SUV struck by an alleged drunken driver around 12:45 a.m. in the area of 655 Union Street.

The 18-year-old driver of the SUV and another passenger in his vehicle were hospitalized with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

“The Norfolk District Attorney’s Office and Braintree Police Department extend our heartfelt condolences to Alexia’s family,” Morrissey and Braintree Police Chief Timothy Cohoon said.

The driver of the pickup, Ryan Gorman, 39, of Holbrook, who was also taken to a hospital, pleaded not guilty in his hospital bed the following day to three counts of driving under the influence of alcohol causing serious bodily injury, one count of driving negligently so as to endanger and one count of failing to drive within marked lanes.

He was released on $5,000 cash bail.

Gorman’s next court date is January 2 in Quincy District Court.

Nixon was being remembered by those who knew her as a beautiful person inside and out who could be relied on when you needed her.

The crash remains under investigation by Massachusetts State Police, the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office, and Braintree Police.
