Police arrested a man on multiple charges after an incident in Bristol County
According to police, on Friday, at approximately 1:30 a.m., multiple Seekonk Police patrol units were dispatched to Motel 6 (821 Fall River Avenue) for the report of a 911 hangup call.
Eventually, officers located a woman in one of the hallways who claimed she had been assaulted with a firearm, by a male suspect. Officers learned that the suspect had fled the motel upon seeing the approaching police units. The suspect was ultimately identified as 37-year-old Corey Soares.

Detectives executed the search warrant and subsequently located a loaded Smith & Wesson semi-automatic handgun. An arrest warrant for Soares was then issued through Taunton District Court.
At approximately 2:00 p.m., Ptlm. Dudley was on routine patrol when he observed what he believed to be the suspect enter Panera Bread (211 Highland Avenue). Ptlm. Dudley engaged the suspect while inside the restaurant, confirmed the man was in fact Soares, and took him into custody without further incident.
Soares, of Punta Gorda, FL, was charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Domestic A&B, Domestic Strangulation or Suffocation, Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, Firearm-armed Assault to Murder, Firearm Violation with 3 Prior Violent/Drug Crimes, and Possession of Ammunition without FID Card.
