Former Fall River teacher, Tiverton resident, passes away at 73-years-old
A local man who is a former Fall River educator has died.
According to an obituary, 73-year-old Dennis Duarte of Tiverton, RI, and a Fall River native, passed away peacefully on Thursday at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, surrounded by his loved ones.
Duarte was a teacher at Kuss Middle School in Fall River where he also led chess and computer clubs there. He also worked for many years in a group home for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Those who knew him say that Dennis loved music, reading, and even wrote a comic series, Media Starr, which was published in the late 1980s. He also loved spending time with his family and friends.
His funeral will be held Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 10 AM from the Oliveira Funeral Home – South Main St. Chapel, 2064 South Main Street, Fall River. Burial will follow in Pocasset Hill Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Friday, November 1 from 4 -7 PM. Those attending his services are encouraged to wear his favorite attire – jeans and a concert/band T-shirt. Extra credit for adding a pair of Converse sneakers.
