Somerset Fire Department extinguishes blaze that damages home, displaces family of 5
Crews responded to an extensive fire in Somerset on Saturday afternoon.
At just after 1:30 p.m., a call came into dispatch for flames showing at 140 Lucy Lane.
All members inside the home evacuated safely.
Despite the fire originating in the back deck area, the blaze reached the second floor and roof.
At just after 1:45 p.m., the fire was reported to be knocked down.
While the Somerset Fire Department has not released a cause, scanner transmissions and a witness stated that the fire began at a pool heating pump and quickly spread to the outside and then inside the home.
According to a GoFundMe fundraiser, the residents are a family of five (parents, a 11-year-old boy, and 16 and 18-year-old girls). They are currently living separately with family and friends, as well as in a hotel.
