Fall River and Somerset men held on bail after month’s long investigation led to drug dealing charges

SOMERSET – Chief William Tedford reports that a month’s long investigation conducted by the Somerset Police Detective Division has resulted in the arrest of two individuals on multiple charges of drug possession and distribution.

During the month of September, Detective Donald Cormier developed information that a resident of Clearview Avenue, 41-year-old Richard Correia, was selling cocaine and other narcotics from the home. Detective Cormier, and other members of the SPD Detective Division initiated an investigation into the suspicious activity at that residence.

After several weeks of surveillance, the detectives were granted a search warrant for the home at Clearview Avenue which was served on Wednesday. Detective Cormier, along with Detective Lieutenant Jason Matos, Detective Sergeant Nick Davidson, and Sergeant Michael Demoranville, searched the Clearview Avenue residence where they located and seized various quantities of Cocaine and Crack Cocaine, Xanax, and MDMA (aka Ecstasy).

The seizure of the illegal drugs, along with items commonly used for the packaging and distribution of narcotics, led to the arrest of the homeowner, Correia.

A second male who was involved in the illegal drug sales, 26-year-old Marcus Davis of Fall River, was also arrested by the detectives.

Both suspects were charged with two counts of Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B Drugs, Possession with Intent to Distribute Class E Drugs, and Conspiracy to Violate the Drug Laws.

Following their arrests, both males were transported to the Bristol County Regional Jail at Ash Street in New Bedford where they were held until their arraignment at the Fall River District Court.

Davis was held after not posting $2,500 cash bail and has a pretrial hearing scheduled for next month.

Correia was also held after not posting $2,500 cash bail and has a pretrial hearing scheduled for later this month.
