Rhode Island family highlighting mental health awareness after death of 21-year-old

A Rhode Island family is thanking the community for their support while also wanting to highlight the critical issue of mental health awareness.

The community recently lost a bright young soul, Alex Montesino, who passed away suddenly on Saturday at the age of 21 after walking across I-95 North in Providence.

According to a statement released by the family, Alex was known for his passion for culinary arts and his ability to bring joy to others through his creative dishes and infectious smile. Tragically, he had been silently battling depression.

In the wake of this loss, the family started a GoFundMe fundraiser to cover the funeral expenses and give Alex the dignified farewell he deserves.

The family believes that sharing Alex’s story could make a significant impact and hopefully start a crucial conversation about mental health, potentially helping others who are silently struggling.

“We would be immensely grateful if you could help us spread the word about this campaign. Your coverage would not only assist our family during this difficult time but also contribute to the larger cause of destigmatizing mental illness and promoting support for those in need.”
