Police take juvenile into custody after social media threat aimed at BMC Durfee High School
Quick work by police and Fall River community members led to the arrest of a juvenile.
According to a message sent to parents by Principal Jessica Stephens on Thursday morning, it was reported to a Durfee counselor that there was knowledge of a threatening Instagram post directed toward Durfee High School.
The individual responsible for the post was immediately identified as a non-FRPS student.
Thanks to the swift response from students and families, the individual was very quickly located and taken into custody by law enforcement.
Stephens expressed her thanks on how the incident was handled.
“We are grateful for the prompt action of our students, families, and the Fall River Police Department, which allowed us to address the situation swiftly and ensure the safety of our school community. Thank you for your continued support in keeping Durfee High School a safe environment. “
