Rhode Island man held without bail after 1 kilo of cocaine, 128 grams of heroin, 2 guns, magazine, cash, seized

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – East Providence police have charged 44-year-old city resident Karl Vazquez Ayala with numerous firearms and narcotics charges following a multi- jurisdictional investigation. The case involved investigators from the United States Postal Inspection Service, Rhode State Police High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force, Pawtucket Police Department, and the East Providence Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit. 

US Postal Inspectors and Task Force Officers developed information regarding the shipment of narcotics though the US mail system that had final destinations in East Providence and Pawtucket. One of the individuals involved in the investigation was Vazquez Ayala from 136 Roma Street in East Providence. Investigators arrested Vazquez Ayala at a location in Pawtucket. 

A subsequent search warrant for his residence in East Providence revealed the following. 

•1 kilogram of Cocaine 

• 128 grams of Heroin 

• 2 semi-automatic pistols 

• Large capacity feeding devices (Magazines) 

•$3,700 in cash

Vazquez Ayala is facing the following charges from the East Providence Police Department: 

• Manufacturing/Selling/Possession with Intent to Manufacture/Sell Cocaine

•Manufacturing/Selling/Possession with Intent to Manufacture/Sell Heroin 

•Possession of a Firearm by a Person Convicted of a Crime of Violence (2 counts)

•Maintaining a Common Nuisance/Controlled Substance 

•Large Capacity Feeding Devices Prohibited (Pistol Magazine, 2 Counts) 

•Warrant of Arrest on Affidavit 

Vazquez Ayala was held without bail at his arraignment.
