Somerset eatery known for Texas inspired BBQ to close this week
A familiar barbeque spot that recently moved to a train in Somerset is closing.
Missing Link BBQ opened in a trailer in Dartmouth in July of 2022 at 335 Old Fall River Road and operated there until December where they then moved “Rosie” to 938 Lees River Avenue while renovating the famous train on the property to be used as their new location.
Missing Link who is owned by Somerset residents Tom Lyon and Doug Moniz, made the move to provide customers with a better overall experience, more variety, and the comfort of indoor dining.
ML opened in the train on Wednesday, November 8th, 2023. They announced on Monday that they would soon be closing.
“It is with great sadness that we have to announce this, but after much deliberation and discussion, we have decided to close Missing Link BBQ. Unfortunately, we have been met with lots of obstacles that have led us to where we are today, but we wouldn’t have gotten this far without all of you and your support.
“Our last day of service will be Sunday, August 4th. All catering orders that we have committed to this week will be fulfilled. We ask that you please use up your gift cards before Sunday, while we are still here. We understand this is last minute, but unfortunately, we don’t have the choice to stay open any longer. We hope to see you before we go, but if we don’t get the chance, we just want to say thank you again for the last two years. We appreciate all of you.”
The BBQ spot is known for Texas inspired BBQ with a New England flair. They also feature pit roast beef sandwiches with chef inspired toppings.

“So Very Sad, ‘So Many Hurting’ In This Horrible Economy!
IMO: Many more places will close, as the Economy Tumbles down.
Look Up ‘Great Depression Era, Recipes’ many good ‘Bargain Recipes’ for these Tough Times.
During the Pres. Carter Years we had ‘Fried Baloney in Barbecue Sauce’, twice a Week.
Plus a lot of ‘Shepard’s Pie, and Spaghetti’.

Gary you have no idea what you are talking about. The economy is in VERY good shape. Unemployment is the lowest in 50 years, the stock market is setting records, there is growth every quarter, inflation is well under control, etc. Go parrot Trumps lies somewhere else.

The economy is only doing well if you’re rich or a large corporation. Familes and working class people are struggling.
Inflation. Price gouging. Record profits for corporations.
Trump and Biden have less control over the economy than you give them credit for.

If you are listening to the legacy Media, or USA Propaganda Media your repeating their talking points. ”#75% of Jobs created are Part-Time or Government Jobs”, legions of Govt workers may be laid off when the Economy Tumbles significantly. Major disconnect between Main Street and Wall Street Real Economy.
If the Economy is so great why does McDonalds, and BK’s have to have a $5 Value Meal?
Plus listen to Independent Economist not the ones on the Propaganda Legacy Media/CNBC.
Real Inflation Up, almost #25% since Co-President Biden/Harris took Office.

So that you know I traveled extensively trough out the us as a trucker and never ever seen so many places closing as they are closing now a days…you don’t have to travel far ( rt 6 Seekonk) to see places there once we’re packed with guess and are now out of business…
My opinion, the middle class no longer exists which was the back bone of this nation..
Stay tuned to the worst yet to come…

Finally! This place was not great and was clear to me they would not survive long. I ordered a few times and the orders were consistently messed up and the food was subpar. When I told them of the issues they were hostile and condescending so I’m glad to see this place go! Bye bye!

Exactly my experience. If they treated their customers better they probably would still be viable. They didn’t even attend the towns barbequefest. Probably because they couldn’t compete with real barbeque shops.

Knew it was gonna tank. It’s unfortunate but the food was always dry. Never justified the price.

This place had the worst service and the times I went there they were down right rude to me. I went there twice and gave them the benefit the second time but the food was poor at best and the service was worse than that. Treat your customers better or lose business which is what happened here.
