Tiverton home ruled uninhabitable, unsafe after 5 cats, 16 kittens removed
TIVERTON RI- Over a dozen animals were removed from a Tiverton home that has been deemed unsafe to live in.
According to Captain Michael Miguel, on Tuesday, the Tiverton Animal Control Officer and Tiverton Officers responded to Adams Street for a report of five litters of kittens and several adult cats living inside the home.
Upon arrival, the ACO found five adult cats and sixteen kittens inside. The ACO believed there
were other adult cats that ran from the home.
Officers found the inside of the home to be unsanitary and unsafe. The Tiverton Code Enforcement Officer responded and determined that the home was uninhabitable. Code Enforcement told the residents to vacate the home until the code violations could be corrected.
The Tiverton ACO, along with the assistance of the Portsmouth ACO and the Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, removed the cats from the home. The RISPCA transported the animals to their facility.
The case remains under investigation by the Tiverton Animal Control Officer.
