Couple fatally struck by Massachusetts commuter rail train after boyfriend tried to remove girlfriend from tracks
NATICK – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan has confirmed the ongoing investigation into a fatal train strike that occurred yesterday in Natick.
On Monday, before 6:00 p.m., police responded to the area of Washington Avenue between Cochituate Street and Middlesex Avenue for a report that two individuals had been struck and killed by an Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority Commuter Rail train traveling eastbound on track two from Worcester to South Station. Prior to the train strike, witnesses observed the first victim, a 65-year-old female, in the area of the tracks. The witnesses began to travel down the embankment to assist her when they observed the second victim, a 59-year-old man, attempting to help her off the tracks. At that point the witnesses left the area. Within a few moments both victims were struck. The preliminary investigation suggests that the victims were in a dating relationship and may have previously been seen in that area. No foul play is suspected.
This is an ongoing investigation being conducted by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office, the Transit Police Department and Natick Police.

No foul play? Those trains are not super speed and at 59 & 65 you can still move fast enough to get out of the way of large train coming at you. something doesn’t smell right here.

I totally agree that there is something wrong here totally wrong! This needs to be further investigated!

They’re trespassing on the right of way and it doesn’t matter if the train is super speed if that train was traveling at 50-60 mph it would still take that train at least a 1/2 mile to 3/4 of a mile to come to a complete stop
