State Police release name of woman killed in pedestrian crash on Route 146
A woman is dead after an incident this weekend on a Massachusetts highway.
According to Massachusetts State Police, at approximately 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, patrols from the State Police-Millbury Barracks responded to calls reporting a serious pedestrian crash on Route 146 northbound in the area of exit 13 in Sutton.
Upon arrival, Troopers came upon the crash, where a woman on foot was struck in the roadway. Sutton Fire and EMS, as well as Sutton PD assisted on-scene and first responders attempted life-saving aid. The woman was transported to UMass Memorial Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
The woman, 34-year-old Nicole Young of Thompson, CT, was determined to be deceased after arrival to the hospital. The operator and passengers of the vehicle involved were not injured.
The crash remains under investigation by the State Police-Millbury Barracks with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, State Police Crime Scene Services Section, and Worcester County State Police Detective Unit. The left and center travel lanes of Route 146 were closed to facilitate recovery and cleanup.
