Fire Department: Multi-vehicle crash at Route 79 intersection sends one to local hospital
Crews responded Monday evening to a multi-vehicle crash at a Route 79 intersection.
According to the Lakeville Fire Department, two vehicles collided at the intersection of Bedford and Rhode Island Road just before 6:00 p.m.
At the time of the crash, Ambulance 3 was committed to another medical emergency. Due to recent staffing enhancements provided by the Lakeville Select Board, Ambulance 2 was ready and staffed, responding immediately to the scene. Engine 1 was delayed until recalled firefighters arrived at the station.
Ambulance 2 provided care and transport for one patient. The injuries did not appear to be serious. Engine 1 handled hazard mitigation and Car 2 served as incident command.
Department of Public Works – Lakeville, MA responded to assist with the clean-up of fluids on the roadway. MassDOT responded to inspect a traffic light post that was hit by a vehicle.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
