Crews rescue three in difficult conditions off of Massachusetts waters
Three people were rescued Sunday afternoon off the waters of Massachusetts.
According to Hull Firefighters Local 1657, at approximately 2:30 p.m., members on the DCR beach detail were flagged down for multiple people in distress in the water off the rocks by the old Beach Fire restaurant on State Park Road in Hull.
Rescue 3 reported 3 victims overcome by the swells, fatigued and a possible medical emergency ongoing. Rescue 3 updated that one victim was having a medical emergency.
Marine 2 with C3 and a member of Rescue 3 was swiftly launched. While dealing with heavy swells against the rocks, the crew extricated 2 victims. A Rescue 3 member stayed behind with the remaining victim.
Ultimately, all three victims were safely removed from the hazardous situation.
The Union stated that the call turned out to be successful due to teamwork and prior training.
“Launching a boat by hand in swells takes practice and knowledge of these local waters. Additionally, the Rescue 3 crew today are swift water rescue technicians. Strong work all around by our dedicated members, and just another example that this department is not just a land-based operation!”
