Rhode Island man arraigned on several charges after allegedly breaking into home, shooting girlfriend
A woman was reportedly shot by her boyfriend on Saturday after he allegedly broke into a neighbor’s home and shot her.
According to police, members of the West Warwick Police Department responded to Capron Street for a report of a domestic disturbance, possibly involving a firearm. The female victim reportedly fled from the residence and ran to a neighbor’s house. The male suspect chased her and broke into the neighbor’s house across the street where he continued to assault the victim. The suspect also assaulted two residents within the house.
Upon arrival, Officers located a 35-year-old female victim with a single gunshot wound to her left arm. Officers treated the victim until members of the West Warwick Fire Department arrived.
Officers were quickly able to learn that she had been shot by her 42-year-old boyfriend. Officers located the suspect a short distance from the scene where he was taken into custody.
The victim was transported to Rhode Island Hospital by West Warwick Fire Rescue with non-life-threatening injuries.
Jason R. Jackvony was transported to Kent County Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. He was treated for his injuries and remains in police custody until he is arraigned.
Jackvony was charged with Assault with Deadly Weapon in Dwelling with intent to commit Murder, Domestic Sexual Assault 1st Degree, Discharging a firearm when committing a crime of violence, Breaking and Entering, Domestic Refusal to Relinquish Telephone, Delivery, Possession w/ Intent (Marijuana), Possession of a firearm while committing a controlled substance violation, Possession of Large Capacity Magazines (18 counts), and Simple Assault (3 counts).
Jackvony was arraigned Sunday morning at the West Warwick Police Department by a bail commissioner and was held without bail at the A.C.I.
Jackvony is scheduled to appear in Third District Court at the Kent County Courthouse this morning, to be re-arraigned by a District Court Judge.
