Tragedy has struck twice for a South Coast family recently.

On Saturday, February 4th, shortly after 3:00 p.m., the Wareham Fire Department responded to Knowles Avenue for what became a 3-alarm fire.

After multiple hazards were encountered, including compromised floors on all levels, firefighters had to evacuate the building and initiate an exterior attack. After 2 1/2 hours in the bitter cold, the fire was finally brought under control. A total of 32 Wareham career and call firefighters worked with multiple firefighters from surrounding agencies.

That home is the residence of Daniel Tribou and his partner Carol Reynolds says Reynolds’ daughter Amy.

According to a GoFundMe fundraiser, on Friday, February 3rd, family brought Carol to the hospital where she was admitted for care and pain treatment as she was recently diagnosed with cancer.

The next day while in Boston at the hospital, Tribou received a call that their home was on fire.

Amy states that the blaze destroyed just about everything in the home.

“What little was left is waterlogged and full of smoke damage. Daniel’s lifelong home. The home his children were raised in. The home Carol and Daniel built their beautiful life together in has now been deemed unlivable.”

To make matters worse, Amy states that there was no homeowner’s insurance on the house as it had lapsed. They were in the process of getting the home insured when the fire struck.

The fundraiser has raised just over $22,000 as of this writing as the family asks for prayers and any help the public can give.
