Massachusetts woman makes grand gesture to son and grandson after starting new year by hitting on $1 million state lottery scratch ticket
A Massachusetts woman started the year off right by hitting big money on a state lottery scratch ticket and she already plans to make a big gesture towards her son and grandson.
According to the Massachusetts State Lottery, Ivy Veal-Sanders is the Massachusetts State Lottery’s first $1 million prize winner of 2023, claiming her prize at the Lottery’s Dorchester headquarters Tuesday, January 3.
Veal-Sanders, who is from Dorchester, won her prize playing the “$4,000,000 Money Bags” instant ticket game. She opted to receive her prize in the form of a one-time payment of $650,000 (before taxes). She plans on using some of her winnings to pay off her mortgage and to pay for her son’s and grandson’s cars.
Her winning ticket was purchased at New Family Supermarket located at 205 Humboldt Avenue in Dorchester. The store will receive a $10,000 bonus for its sale of the ticket.
