Fall River Fire Department saves several structures as flames shoot out of propane tank
The Fall River Fire Department everted possible disaster after a propane tank shot a large flame in between several structures on Wednesday night.
Just before 11:00 p.m., a call came in for an exterior fire at 235 Wood Street.
According to District Chief Neil Furtado, firefighters arrived on scene to flames in between 2 wood frame homes. Heavy fire was beginning to spread to both homes with 235 Wood Street being the greatest threat. One crew began to spray water on 235 Wood Street then attack the fire while another crew doused 267 Wood Street.
Furtado stated that a 20 lbs. propane tank was shooting a flame up close to 35-40 feet.
The fire was knocked down and extinguished in about 20 minutes.
Damage was confined to the exterior only including the 2 homes, a shed, and a 13′ motorboat.
