A Taunton man has been arrested for allegedly stealing a charity collection box.

Stoughton police put out a plea on Facebook for followers to identify a man who was seen walking into the Seasons Corner Market on Sharon St at 3:05 a.m. on April 30 and took a box filled with money from the counter and walked away. The box was marked for the charity Boots on the Ground.

Boots on the Ground is a charitable organization that is “dedicated to empowering veterans and qualified civilians to provide in-field emergency and primary medical care, and other assistance required to sustain life, facilitate recovery, and to encourage and promote long-term development, stability, and peace in underserved areas of the world.

The Stoughton Police Department received tips with a possible identification of the suspect. Friday night they received a call for a suspicious male walking in the Lakewood Pines neighborhood. When they arrived, they learned this was the same person who they had been receiving tips on. Robert Brazeau, a 33 year old Taunton man, was wearing the same sneakers and had the same coat and winter hat with him that was seen in surveillance. Stoughton PD then took Brazeau into custody.

He will be arraigned on Monday morning at Stoughton District Court on a larceny from a building charge.
