Authorities looking for suspect in fatal Bridgewater hit and run
BRIDGEWATER — Chief Christopher Delmonte reports that the Bridgewater Police Department and Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz’s Office are jointly investigating following a fatal hit and run early this morning.
At 12:40 a.m., Bridgewater Police were dispatched to the intersection of Auburn and Summer Streets after a passing motorist observed an unconscious male in the roadway. Upon arrival, officers discovered the male victim, who had suffered obvious trauma, and the Bridgewater Fire Department responded to render aid.
Investigators have preliminarily determined that the man was struck by a motor vehicle.
The victim, a 34-year-old male, was pronounced dead at the scene, and Bridgewater Police Detectives and Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office initiated an investigation.
Further identifying information about the victim is not being released due to family notification.
The incident remains under investigation, and anyone who believes they may have information about this incident, or may have observed a person or vehicle in the area around the time of the incident, is asked to contact Bridgewater Police Detectives at 508-697-6118 or State Police investigators at 508-894-2600.
