Massachusetts schools see 582 new COVID-19 cases, see where your community stands
COVID-19 cases among Massachusetts schools decreased this week along with a decrease in some area communities.
According to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, a total of 373 new COVID-19 cases were reported among K-12 students from February 11 to February 24 due to a week of school vacation. 209 were reported for staff making the overall total in Massachusetts schools for the past week at 582.
The last report, which was for February 4 to February 10, revealed that 674 tested positive. 462 of the positives were students and 212 were staff.
The report only includes positive cases of students and staff who have been in school for either in-person or hybrid learning. Remote learning cases are not counted.
Here are the statistics from some area cities and towns from February 11 to February 24.
Acushnet: 2 staff
Attleboro: 5 student and 1 staff
Dartmouth: No cases
Fairhaven: 1 staff
Fall River: 4 students and 6 staff
New Bedford: 15 students and 7 staff
Plymouth: No cases
Seekonk: 1 student
Somerset: No cases
Swansea: No cases
Taunton: 7 students and 4 staff
Westport: No cases
Fall River had the third most staff cases in the state. New Bedford had the second most new cases overall, the fourth most student cases, and the most staff cases.
