Fall River City Hall adds historic photo display
Jai Sotomayor jumped at the chance when he was asked to create a historic photo display at Fall River City Hall. Those who know Jai, who runs the Fall River Historic Photo Club on Facebook, knew he would be a logical choice.
“I was honored and blessed and, to be honest, completely shocked that the City Hall would want to display some of the Fall River Historic Photo Club old photos.”
The display, which features photos of the Central Street stone bridge, the Rolling Rock, and the Cotton Centennial of 1911 among others, is located on the second floor in a glass display case in the foyer area of City Council chambers. All are welcome to take a look.
“I did this so others can enjoy.”
Despite all of the time and energy Jai spent in creating the display, he wanted it to be known that he did not do it alone. “Thank you to the group admins and moderators. Also thank you Aime “Moe” Belanger for letting me incorporate your photos as well as Steven Gorenbergh, George Steele, Jim Smith, Luna Musselman, Richard le Comte, Bob Simmons, George H Petrin, and Mary Thibault.”
There are plans for Jai to be officially recognized by the city in honoring Jai’s enthusiasm and love of the history of Fall River.
