Massachusetts sees increase in COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, and deaths, country sees most cases since August 7th

Massachusetts saw an increase in cases, hospitalizations, and deaths in Thursday’s COVID-19 report.

Massachusetts has seen 568 more positive cases announced today. An increase from Wednesday’s report. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate remains at 1.3% after three days of increases.

Massachusetts had seen 518 more positive cases announced yesterday.

The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total confirmed cases to 138,651 with 23 more reported dead for a total of 9,452.

14,737 tests were performed on new individuals, 1,680 more than yesterday’s report, to increase the amount of individuals tested to 2,471,688. The overall amount of tests administered in Massachusetts is now 4,955,322.

The 3 day average of COVID-19 deaths increases to 19 from 13.

Hospitalizations have increased in 20 of the last 31 days and increased by 4 today to see the total rise to 503.

Massachusetts residents subject to COVID-19 quarantine by current status up to October 14th
• Total of individuals subject to quarantine: 94,733
• Total of individuals who have completed monitoring (no longer in quarantine): 90,607
• Total of individuals currently undergoing monitoring/under quarantine: 4,126

It was announced yesterday that Fall River is now in the red with an 8.5% Average Daily Incidence Rate per 100,000 (Last 14 days). Fairhaven sits at 9.8%. New Bedford continues to be in the red at 12.2%. Plymouth is in the red at 12.8%, Dartmouth is in at 9.7%. Berkley moves into the red at 9.5%. Acushnet remains in the red at 13.7%. Attleboro remains in the red at 12.7%.

According to the CDC, as of October 15th, the total amount of COVID-19 cases in the country is 7,894,768 with 216,025 dead.
