According to Foxborough Police, at 11:56 a.m., the Foxborough Police received a report of a shoplifting incident at CVS Pharmacy located at 72 Washington Street Foxborough. The police department was given a description of the two suspects along with their vehicle’s license plate and its direction of travel. The involved vehicle was identified as a blue Chrysler Minivan.
As a Foxborough police officer was responding to the call he observed the blue Chrysler minivan pass him in the opposite direction, travelling southbound on North Street. The officer turned his cruiser around and began to follow the direction of the vehicle southbound on North Street.
A short distance later, approximately less than a mile, the Foxborough officer came upon a motor vehicle crash involving the suspect vehicle. The preliminary investigation indicates that the suspect vehicle crashed head-on into another vehicle travelling northbound on North Street at Laprelot Road. The officer did not witness the motor vehicle crash.
The struck vehicle was a Honda Ridgeline and had one occupant and a dog in the vehicle. The operator of this vehicle suffered serious injuries and was transported by Boston Medflight to a Boston area hospital. The dog also suffered serious injuries and was transported by Foxboro Animal Control officer to Tufts Veterinary in Walpole.
