Fall River sees no COVID-19 cases in Monday report, death total increases to 85

Fall River has not seen more positive cases of COVID-19 for the first time since early in the pandemic.

No additional cases of COVID-19 have been identified in Fall River, according to the Mayor’s Office. This keeps the total in Fall River at 1,484.

The death toll from the coronavirus in Fall River has increased, however, to 85 as the City saw 6 more fatalities.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health started Monday reporting both confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases and deaths dating back to March 1, 2020.

15 cases were announced on Tuesday. On Wednesday, 10 more cases were announced. Thursday’s update revealed an increase of 39 cases, many of them in nursing homes, according to Mayor Coogan. Friday saw 10 additional cases. Saturday saw 6 new cases and Sunday saw 8.

Governor Charlie Baker signed an executive order on May 1, 2020 requiring face coverings in public places where social distancing is not possible. This order is effective May 6, 2020 and will remain in effect until rescinded or until the emergency is terminated.
