Officer briefly dragged by fleeing vehicle in Taunton, search for suspect ongoing
Police are looking for a suspect who briefly dragged a State Trooper.
According to Dave Procopio of the Massachusetts State Police, at approximately 8:17 p.m. Tuesday, a Massachusetts State Trooper suffered minor injuries when he was dragged for a short distance by a pickup truck he had stopped on Route 140 in Taunton.
The Trooper had approached the 2019 Dodge Ram, which had a New York registration, in the area of the Mobil Gas Station and was on foot, at the side of the vehicle, and in the process of taking enforcement action.
Suddenly the suspect, who has been identified as a 32-year-old Dorchester man, drove off and pulled the Trooper a short distance. The Trooper was briefly dragged for a short distance before coming free from the truck.
The truck fled the scene.
The search for the suspect is ongoing at this time.
The Trooper who suffered minor injuries continued to work his shift and is assisting other MSP units with that ongoing search.
