Giveaways, food, support, and more taking place at Fall River homeless count event
(Fall River, MA – January 24, 2020) – The Fall River Homeless Service Providers
Coalition in conjunction with the City of Fall River will be conducting the Annual Point-in-Time Homeless Count on Wednesday, January 29, 2020.
The Homeless Service Providers Coalition will team up with the Steppingstone at the First
Step Inn shelter located at 134 Durfee Street for a Magnet Event. The event will take place
between 12 noon and 5:00 pm. The event will include free giveaways, resource support,
supplies, food, showers, Hep A vaccines and much more. Transportation is provided by
calling (508) 567-8727.
“Our community resources provide essential support to those in need of services,” said
Mayor Paul E. Coogan. “I am hopeful that we will have a better understanding of the amount
of individuals that require these services in our community.”
The Point-in-Time (PIT) count is a count of sheltered and unsheltered people experiencing
homelessness on a single night in January. HUD requires that Continuums of Care conduct
an annual count of people experiencing homelessness who are sheltered in emergency
shelter, transitional housing, and Safe Havens on a single night.
